Brooke grew up in a home that taught life was about pursuing God. Her parents taught her the knowledge of her need for Jesus and she understood from a young age that her life was to be about obedience to Jesus in all things. Brooke had no idea what God had in store for her simple life, but promised to be faithful to Him.
As a kid, Brooke thought about life as a missionary, what it might look like or require of her. She realized the wealth she had been given and its incongruence with the lives of countless individuals and families. Though she wasn't sure she would actually be a missionary, Brooke felt she had been given numerous blessings that for many people are rare. She knew God called her to share her abundance and pondered what that meant throughout her youth as she continued to know Jesus more.
Brooke graduated from Huntington University in 2009 with a degree in Intercultural Ministry. She spent a season of internship in Kolkata with Word Made Flesh to fulfill the practicum requirement of her degree. Much of Brooke's time in Kolkata was spent working alongside the women at Sari Bari in bag production and literacy, in addition to visiting with ladies in the red light district. Brooke feels that God used this time to teach her more about His heart for those who are hurting and in need.
Brooke wants to continue building relationships with individuals in Kolkata whose lives differ from her own. She hopes to learn about Indian culture from them and she desires to listen to their stories of living. Brooke is anxious to see Jesus known in the red light districts of Kolkata.
