David was born and raised in Long Beach, California. Growing up in a family and church that loved and served Jesus, David made a decision to follow Jesus at a young age. In fact, he remembers repeated decisions to follow Jesus as a child inviting him into new "rooms" in his heart. He realizes that process of conversion continues today, as he seeks to know and follow Jesus more fully.

David's heart and burden for the poor began to take root in high school, when his youth group would regularly visit El Sauzal Orphanage just a few hours across the border in Ensenada, Mexico. While attending Biola University, David looked for ways to serve the poor locally. He was invited by the incarnational ministry InnerCHANGE to spend time serving among Cambodian refugee families in a Long Beach neighborhood. David's relationship with one family in particular deeply impacted his desire to know God's heart for those suffering and living in poverty.

After graduating from college David served in young adult ministry and missions at Grace Community Church of Seal Beach and attended Fuller Seminary. He is grateful for twelve full years of ministry, growth, and lifelong friendships serving at Grace. David's relationship with Word Made Flesh began in 1996 when he met Chris and Phileena Heuertz in Israel. This lead to several summer Discovery Teams with WMF that introduced David to desperate poverty overseas in places like India, Peru, and Sierra Leone. These trips broke his heart and drove him to scripture to listen to God's heart for the poor and consider his response to stand in the gap and intervene with love, justice, and mercy. A WMF internship provided opportunity to serve, learn, and discern future steps among the poor in Brasil and South Africa.

His three life priorities are shaped by John 15: 1) abiding relationship and intimacy with God; 2) loving one another in community; 3) and bearing fruit and witness among the poor. He is growing to understand his primary vocation as follower of Jesus Christ conforming into his image.

David serves in Argentina and continues the process of formation among the poor and community there.
