Karoline wash born in 1972 in West Germany. Karoline is a nurse and midwife. She is married to Jan. They have two children, Talita and Elia, aged five and four. Jan and Karoline lived in the UK for 9 years before moving to Freetown in February 2009. Karoline was raised in a strong Christian family and attended a traditional church from birth but left church and God behind as a teenager. She came back to Christ for herself when she was in her early twenties. She than did one year of bible school in canada to find out who GOD really was and to improve on her english at the same time. Karoline loves worship and befriending women. During their nine years in Oxford, UK Jan and Karoline were brought in contact with many homeless and marginalized people. Mission had been on their heart right from the beginning of their relationship, but God had a lesson for them in waiting for his perfect timing. The first two years of their married life were marked by death and disease in Karoline's family and at work, throwing Karoline into an emotional spiral. God proved himself faithful and slowly brought healing through close friends, lots of prayer, their beautiful home church and God's direct touch through the father heart movement. Life brightened and Jan and Karoline were blessed by the arrival of their daughter Talita, in 2004, and their son Elia, in 2006. During this new season, The call to mission came back. Jan and Karoline felt drawn more and more to the poor of this world, and realized that the life they had lived so far did not match what God had laid on their hearts. To find out more about their calling and about life with the poor and also to get equipped more in the things of the spirit, they joined the IRIS ministry school of missions in Mozambique at the end of 2007. There, their calling to hands on work with the poor was confirmed and both learned to appreciate God's presence as their source of strength. In the beginning of 2009 Karoline and Jan moved to Freetown, Sierra Leone, where they try to live out their calling. After an internship and some time of discernment and more time of sorting out a contract for germans coming from england working in africa via the usa, they started their contract in february 2009.
