Liz is a proud Michigander from the small towns of Hanover and Horton. She first learned of God's heart for the world through her parents' love of missions and belief in the saving power of the gospel. Later, at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI she studied Sustainable Business and International Studies, further expanding her concept of what it means to be a Christian in today's broken world. Having grown up reading The Cry she went on a Servant Team in 2005 to India, Nepal, and did the Tsunami Relief Project in Sri Lanka. God used her Servant Team to break her heart for the poor and suffering and since that time she hoped to return to Word Made Flesh in a full-time capacity. Liz has served as the Director of Administration since fall of 2008 for Word Made Flesh. She is married to Calvin Smothers and they live in the Park Ave neighborhood in Omaha.
