Mandy grew up in a small town in Illinois, where everyone knew her parents, grandparents and two sisters. As she left the county of her childhood to attend Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana, she learned what it meant to have an identity of her own. Her faith flourished as she constantly saw Jesus in fresh ways. She served as a Resident Assistant for three years and as co-editor of AU's newspaper her senior year, and during the summers worked at her county's small newspaper and as an intern for her church. She studied journalism, writing and Bible.
As graduation approached in 2006, Mandy desired to find a job that would combine her passions of writing and editing with her passion for people and those in need. Shortly after graduating, she traveled to India for two weeks, a trip that confirmed her desire to work with Word Made Flesh. She moved to Omaha that fall to serve as an intern in the Advocacy Department. After completing the one-year internship, she stepped into the role of Publications Editor and Assistant to the Advocacy Department. She counts it a joy to shared laughter and tears with the Omaha community and loves to learn from her friends abroad.
