Rich was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey. As the son of a United Methodist pastor, he grew up in different towns along the NJ shore. Rich came to know the Lord at the age of six and throughout his youth drew closer to Jesus (and got into much mischief as is typical of pastors' children). During this time, Rich heard the Lord call him to a life of ministry.
Rich attended Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. During this time, Rich grew in his faith and felt a stronger call to minister to those in need. Rich graduated with a degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. Since graduating, he has been teaching Geography to seventh graders at Lexington Christian Academy. Rich's studies in geography have helped him develop an awareness of the world and the reality of poverty. The Lord has used this to develop a more compassionate heart and a willingness to serve among the poor.
Rebecca was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. Attending church regularly throughout her childhood, the Lord began drawing Rebecca to Himself as a child. At the age of 15, she received His love and salvation. Just a few years later, Rebecca realized that the Lord was calling her to commit her life to carrying out His work. Having no ideas about what shape this work might take, she became involved with an inner city ministry in Atlanta, and was exposed to the reality of poverty for the first time. She began to realize it would be in this direction that the Lord would lead her in His service.
Rebecca studied Christian Ministries and Missions at Asbury College in preparation for the ministry to which God has called her. In 2000, Rebecca completed her Missions Internship by traveling to Kathmandu, Nepal with WMF on a Servant Team. The Lord used this time to break her and mold her into a more compassionate, obedient, and willing servant.
Shortly after graduation from Asbury, Rebecca began working part-time in the U.S. office. In February of 2001, she joined the full-time office staff as the International Partnership Coordinator, researching and preparing grant proposals for WMF ministries around the world.
Rich and Rebecca met at Asbury College and were married in July 2002. They have been serving in Rio de Janeiro among youth on the streets and children in other at-risk situations since January 2004. Anna was welcomed into the family in 2006.
